Biography

Anri van der Spuy leads Research ICT Africa’s Digital Policy Project, which is focused on better understanding digital policy challenges (including digital rights) from an African perspective. An independent consultant, her other recent and ongoing work include projects for the Internet Society, UNESCO, the IGF, ict Development Associates ltd, ICANN, APC, and GSMA. Her work covers a range of topics in Internet governance and ICT for development, including gender and ICTs, the evolution of multistakeholder participation in Internet governance, and Internet indicators for a universal, rights-based Internet.

Anri is an admitted attorney and holds an MSc in Media in Communications Governance (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Before working as an attorney, she attended the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa), where she obtained an MPhil in Media, Democracy and Development (cum laude), a BPhil in Journalism, and an LLB (law) degree.
